Get Involved With Neurodiversity Celebration Week 17 -23 March
Neurodiversity acknowledges that neurological differences are a natural part of human variation, just like any other aspect of diversity. It promotes a world where these differences are recognized and respected.
The way we think, move, process information, and communicate is shaped by how our brains are wired. Many in the neurodiversity community use it as an umbrella term to describe alternative thinking styles, including Dyslexia, DCD (Dyspraxia), Dyscalculia, Autism, and ADHD. However, beyond labels, neurodiversity is about valuing individuals who think differently. Schools, universities, and organizations alike can benefit from diverse perspectives.
Approximately 15-20% of the population has a neurological difference. Rather than viewing these differences as deficits or disorders, neurodiversity encourages a balanced perspective—recognizing both strengths and challenges. Often, the greatest difficulties neurodivergent individuals face stem from environments and systems designed for the neurological majority rather than from their own abilities.

Recently, Siena was selected by the United Nations as a Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a two-year role she is using to advocate for greater acceptance and inclusion of neurodivergent individuals. She plans to study physics at university.
What is Neurodiversity Celebration Week?
This year, Neurodiversity Celebration Week is celebrated from the 17th -23rd March. It is a global initiative dedicated to challenging stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It seeks to shift perceptions and improve support for neurodivergent individuals by encouraging schools, universities, organizations, and communities to recognize their unique skills and talents. Through this initiative, the goal is to foster more inclusive and equitable environments that celebrate diversity and empower everyone to thrive.
