New CLEAPSS Guidance on Adhesives

A new CLEAPSS document provides information on adhesives that are not typically used in classroom lessons but may still be required in a primary school setting.

Most of the adhesives listed are intended for adult use and will be particularly helpful for site managers or other adults, such as science, DT, or art leaders, who may need specific glues for unique projects. For details on adhesives suitable for use by children and teachers during classroom-based activities, please search for "glue" on the CLEAPSS website.

This guide includes:

  • Information on an extended range of adhesives, including those available from DIY stores;

  • Recommendations on the most effective adhesives for joining specific materials and guidelines on who should use them; and

  • Advice on any associated hazards.
