Useful New Service for Schools with Minibuses - Check Vehicle Licence Holder Details Online
If your school has their own minibus, or has a number of staff who use motor vehicles regularly as part of their role, this new GOV initiative may make keeping a track of their details much easier. Motorists who have signed up for a Driver and vehicles account can now use a QR code to share their driving licence information quicker and easier than ever before.
Once you have signed up for an account, you’ll be able to generate a QR code and instantly share your driving licence information safely and securely with third parties such as car hire and insurance companies.
This new service is only available to Driver and vehicles account users and is the latest in a wide range of benefits available through the account. This includes the ability to choose to receive vehicle tax reminders by email or text.
Use your account to check your details held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
You can:
view your driving record, for example vehicles you can drive
check your penalty points or disqualifications
add and view details of your vehicles - including when the MOT expires
check the tax rates for your vehicles
set up vehicle tax reminders by email and SMS - if you pay tax every 6 or 12 months
choose to stop getting vehicle tax reminders by post
renew your photocard driving licence
view a photo of your driving licence (you’ll need a valid photocard driving licence)
create a licence ‘check code’ to share your driving record with someone, for example a car hire company
view your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and tachograph information, if you have these
Who can use this service
To use this service you must have one of the following:
a driving licence issued in England, Scotland or Wales
a vehicle log book (V5C) in your name
You cannot set up vehicle tax reminders if you pay by direct debit.
